After moving to Austin, TX , I decided to start working for the local transit company - Capital Metro. The traffic was lighter than I was used to, the buses were smaller than I was used to, all & all job was good, the training was great and the people in Texas were real friendly. In December, 1995 I was offered a job in administration. I kept moving up and eventually got a job working in training.

I trained drivers both in class and on the road. I developed an interactive computer operated program to refresh driver training in collaboration with San Diego Transit. I taught accident prevention, customer friendliness and courtesy and bus driver health tips.

We purchased more computers and developed other computer programs to help retrain drivers after accidents and new hires.

When the political climate changed in Austin, a new regime took over from New Orleans, La. They were from the old school and people that were computer oriented were laid off - first layoff in Capital Metro History. Myself and 20 others were out.

Well, I had started helping a Mexican Band - so when I got laid off and severance pay - I took off to Mexico.
